Things Pinterest Has Taught Me {Live}

Pinterest has taken over my life. Every spare moment I have (waiting for the bus, on the bus, before bed, eating breakfast, well you get the idea), I spend looking at the awesome ideas Pinterest has to offer.

WARNING: Before making an account, make sure your ready for the side affects the addiction can cause, including: lack of sleep, eye soreness, reduced social life, a need to try everything you see.

With that being said, here are some of the things Pinterest has taught me:

01. How to be More Crafty

 02. How to Throw a (Great) Party

03. How to Have (A Little) Better Style

04. How to Dress for the Occasion

05. How to Cook (Better)

Hair {Style}

Sorry for being MIA for so long. One word: school.

However, I will be done as of April 21. Not just done for the school year...done, as in FOREVER! I don't anything else, other than school. Going to school for the last 17 years and then nothing is going to be weird. No homework in the evenings or weekend, being able to hang out with friends/family and not having to worry about the mountain of school work I have to do, and not having to juggle 9 group projects and individual projects all at once. NOTHING! Now I just have to find a good job and start my 'big girl' life.

But that's not what this post is about - it's about my new hair. I cut my hair short in the fall.
From this:

To this:

I haven't straight hair in a LONG time (I get perms...not the old lady kind) so I straightened it:

And shortly after that, I decided to cut it all off:

Since this picture was taken, I have played around with it and made it more messy and not so 'perfect' (I haven't had time to take a picture of it). I fell in love this this girls hair. I have been admiring it for a while now, but didn't have the guts to do it. But when I got to the hair dresser, I just decided to dive in and do it. I love the way it turned out!

Down the road, I think I will keep it straight and grow it out a little longer that shoulder length like this.

Casual Day {Style}

Today's Look Book, is a more causal, day to day look. It could be worn travelling, to the cabin, or just lounging around with friends. Personally, I am love nothing more than jeans, a t-shirt and a scarf. This is my usual outfit whether going to school, going for coffee, or seeing a movie with friends. This look is from The Gap.

Good Old Faithful {Style}

It's time for another look book. Today's look is for the casual and cute office look. Recently, I started a new job. I have learned a whole lot about fashion in the last 6 weeks. The high wasted skirt, belt, casual t-shirt and sweater is one of the standards at my work; everyone (well at the ladies!) wear this look at some point during the week. Hopefully, I will get my version together and shore it with you! Personally, I love the feeling of feeling a good deal, but some girls pay A LOT for their clothes. Today's look is from J Crew, a little more expensive, but definitely worth every penny! Good style and confidence are a girls best friend!

Skirt - $49.50 {1)
Shirt -$29.50 {2}
Sweater - $89.50 {4}
Shoes - $118.00 {5}
Belt - $29.50 {3}
Necklace - $55.00 {6}

The total for this look is under $400. This is quite a bit more than my other looks, but good quality clothes are worth their weight in gold (literally). And as always, you can mix and match these pieces with things you may already have to make more outfits.

What's In My Bag? {Style}

I decided I am going to share what I carry (or should I say lug) in my bag. First things first. I already mentioned that I got my bag on sale at the Shoe Warehouse. I carry a notebook (from Chapters), pens and highlighter, for random ideas and design inspirations. The weather has been really crappy here the past couple of weeks, so an umbrella is a must. My sunglasses are from Bluenotes and my wallet is from Ardenes. I like carrying a wallet because it can double as a clutch if need be. The round lip balm was featured on Oprah a while ago, it's called Ballmania. I also have lotion (from Bath & Body) and a comb for those fly aways. I always have some sort of a smack with me, be it granola bars, 100 calories snack, or homemade trail mix. Finally I have my keys (nothing special there) and my make-up/odds and ends bag (from the GAP Outlet). It always seems like the bigger bag I have, the more stuff I "need" to carry with me.
Missing: iPod, cell phone and a water bottle.

Summer I {Style}

I love the look of a floral dress, sweater, long necklace and some sassy shoes. It's perfect for a summer evening, BBQ, or date night. Here's my version from Forever 21.

Dress - $24.00 {1}
Sweater - $22.00 {2}
Necklace - $5.00 {3}
Shoes - $15.00 {4}

The total cost of this outfit is under $70. Which can be a bit pricey (well when you're a student you think of these things!), but look at it this way: each one of these items can be worn together, BUT also with other things. A very good investment, if you ask me!
